Hi Becca. You\u2019re best known for your Curious Creatures collection. Tell us a bit more about that.<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
\u201cI love creative and expressive interiors and I\u2019ve been so thrilled with the reception of my designs for fabrics. Seeing the many fabulous creators using my Curious Creatures Fabrics has been simply amazing \u2013 a highlight being your very own use of my Garden Treasures design for the unbelievable ottoman transformation which we saw on BBC One\u2019s \u2018Money For Nothing\u2019!\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed being creative ever since I was a small girl and my work is centred around my values of\u00a0a\u00a0lifelong love of\u00a0art,\u00a0as well as in\u00a0inspiring creativity in others to create expressive interiors and, of course, a mindfulness for\u00a0sustainability.”\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
“By creating designs from works of art,\u00a0my aim is\u00a0to offer timeless products which can be cherished for years to come.\u00a0I absolutely\u00a0love\u00a0the excitement of seeing\u00a0new life breathed into something old, resulting in a revamped future heirloom. This \u2018slow movement\u2019 of buying things to last is an intrinsic part of being considerate of our environment and reducing our impact on the planet.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
How and where do you work?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cI work out of my home studio where I am lucky to be surrounded by the rural landscape of Lancashire.\u00a0I\u2019m a mum of two energetic boys\u00a0and\u00a0we spend a lot of time outdoors as a family exploring local woodlands and hills and taking on various sports such as mountain biking, windsurfing, kayaking \u2013 it\u2019s a time where the boys\u00a0always<\/strong>\u00a0get on. Any\u00a0brotherly\u00a0bickering\u00a0is forgotten\u00a0– and we all feel refreshed and happy\u00a0for it! I often take to creating my artwork outdoors too,\u00a0which I love as I am surrounded by inspiration.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u201cUpholstery is always at the forefront of my mind when I create\u00a0my\u00a0designs and I aim to offer fabric that\u00a0upholsterers and their clients find exciting to work with.\u00a0I love to offer compositions that\u00a0upholsterers can use to spark their creativity when planning out a piece\u00a0and\u00a0see the results of others\u2019 creativity when it comes to the placement of the design elements For instance, a\u00a0dragonfly centred on an ottoman lid or a snake curled upon a chair armrest are irresistible touches which really make the pieces special.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u201cWhen creating the Earth Odyssey collection, I really wanted to offer inspiration from many of my favourite aspects of the natural world. I always start by hand rendering the artwork – I work in both traditional methods of ink drawings on paper, as well as digital painting techniques which offer a striking level of painterly details, whilst this way of working also sits perfectly when developing multiple colour palettes for the designs.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n “Combined with my other inspirations of a love for Art and Design – particularly Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement \u2013 my enjoyment of nature and\u00a0the outdoors means that I automatically want to celebrate the beauty of florals and wildlife in my work.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u201cI\u2019d have to say that\u00a0Crocodilia<\/a>\u00a0has been met with a fantastic response \u2013 this is a design which I feel really works well in a variety of interior styles. I can\u2019t resist drama in a design, but I always try to temper this with elegance in the composition, enjoying symmetry in my work and featuring natural elements celebrated in a way that portrays them as an ornament.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n “The \u2018Rockstar\u2019 of the collection has to be Bengal Rose Garden<\/a> \u2013 I have always loved a dark floral and this one has my signature touch of the unexpected when we are suddenly met by the golden eyes of a Bengal Tiger amongst the foliage \u2013 and the Tiger tail peeking out seems to me to be just perfect for the seat of a chair!”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u201cThe Earth Odyssey collection has so far been met with an enthusiastic response and we\u2019re already seeing so many fabulous pieces created with these designs,\u00a0which is fantastic. Makers always tell me that the velvet is wonderful to work with \u2013 it has a beautifully subtle sheen to it which I think really adds to the definition of an upholstered piece. Currently, I am developing Wallpapers to complement the\u00a0fabrics,\u00a0which I\u2019m very excited about.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u201cI love that the\u00a0Vintique\u00a0stance is \u2018life is too short for ordinary furniture!’ I couldn\u2019t agree more with this \u2013 I love seeing people create their homes to be spaces that reflect the things that they love, embracing colour and artistic design, choosing items that speak to them personally. It\u2019s\u00a0fabulous to see the shift towards eclectic, bolder interiors, richer colour palettes and more dramatic design choices.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n “I am always excited by makers\u00a0–\u00a0such as yourself –\u00a0embracing a truly creative approach, inspiring artistic choices in their clients, whilst being dedicated to high quality in their craft and to providing the best customer experience.
